The Daily Beast claims in a new report out Thursday that Jared Fogle was 'best friends' with accused child pornographer Russell Taylor, increasing scrutiny on the former Subway pitchman whose home was raided this week.

The two have been close for years, according to the report, and the 37-year-old weight loss icon handpicked taylor to head his children's charity, Jared Foundation.

"They were good friends before [Taylor] started working for him," an insider said. "Jared basically created a position for him to help raise funds and do the administrative stuff Jared couldn't do. He had experience with nonprofits."

Fogle's home was raided Tuesday by Indiana police and FBI agents, two months after Taylor was charged with seven counts of producing child pornography and one count of possession. According to investigators, Taylor admitted to putting a hidden camera into a child's bedroom, but only to determine if she was having sex with her boyfriend or stealing from his wife.

Following the arrest Fogle released a statement saying, "I was shocked to learn of the allegations against Mr. Taylor and effective immediately, the Jared Foundation is severing all ties with Mr. Taylor."

However, WISH reports that a family member of Fogle's claims the Subway spokesperson bailed Taylor out of jail back in April.

Taylor is back in federal custody, and while Fogle hasn't been formally charged at this time, Subway has dropped their longtime spokesperson.
