The Dalai Lama's 80th birthday is celebrated around the globe

The Dalai Lama celebrated his 80th birthday this weekend in Southern California at the Global Compassion Summit. While his actual birthday is on Monday, the weekend festivities included an 8-foot-tall birthday cake complete with maroon-and-gold frosting -- colors referencing his Dalai Lama's Tibetan robes.

He plans to deliver talks all three days on global compassion, creativity and the arts, youth leadership and climate change.
