The Best Summer Blockbusters To Watch This Weekend

Rain or shine, holiday weekends are a great time to catch a summer blockbuster. Here are some of the most epic films to hit the silver screen in summertime for your viewing pleasure.

1. "Jaws"
Steven Spielberg's 1975 box office juggernaut has all the makings of the perfect holiday flick. There's sun, sand and a great white shark terrorizing a beach community. You'll spend an-arm-and-a-leg for a beach vacation and be too afraid of actually losing an-arm-and-a-leg to go in the ocean.

2. "ET"
If you need a more family friendly Spielberg flick, how about "ET?" The extraterrestrial "phoned home" for the first time in June 1982. The sci-fi blockbuster is even more amazing when you watch it as an adult ... Did you remember he was a botanist?

3. "The Lion King"
There's never a wrong time to relive this animated classic! To get your animated fix head to Pride Rock with Simba, Mufasa and Scar. Disney's 'The Lion King' was a box office hit in the mid-90s, and with Elton John's award winning score, you'll be immersed in the 'Circle of Life' come time for this year's fireworks.

4. "Top Gun"
What's 4th of July without a little U-S-A? 'Top Gun' will set your American hearts soaring. The 1986 air force classic will have you fighting with your friends over who gets to be Maverick and Iceman. Just have tissues handy for Goose.

5. "Forrest Gump"
Grab your tissues, "Forrest Gump" might just be the ultimate holiday weekend flick. Just make sure you're ready for this tearjerker! Plus, "House of Cards" fans might be excited to see a young Robin Wright.

6. "Independence Day"
It'd just be wrong not to include "Independence Day!" Will Smith is notorious for opening movies on 4th of July weekend: "Independence Day," "Men In Black," "Wild Wild West" and a few others all opened on the holiday weekend. For us, though, it just doesn't get better than a pep talk from Bill Pullman before kicking some alien ass.
