Why swimming pools could be making you sick

Swimming pools are gross. So gross they can even make you sick and send you to the hospital. Most of the time this happens, a little bacteria called Cryptosporidium is to blame. And it gets there through feces.

The CDC recently issued a warning to people this summer, saying major cause of the outbreaks in treated water, including hot tubs and pools, is a hardy parasite called Cryptosporidium, which is encased in a tough shell and causes acute gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea.
