Girl with cerebral palsy graduates high school as valedictorian
PIX 11 -- It was a celebration of success today at Juan Morel Campos Secondary School in Brooklyn.
The senior class took the next step in their lives and graduated.
Among tem was Johileny Meran.
You may remember her from a story we did a couple months ago.
The 18-year-old has cerebral palsy and has had trouble walking her whole life. She's also lived in a family shelter ever since her mother passed away a few years ago.
"As I stand here today, I hope I've made her proud," Johileny said.
Johileny didn't just stand there today as a graduate but as the valedictorian.
Her impressive academic achievements are just the beginning of what's sure to be a bright future. And I was so honored to be the one to introduce her at the ceremony.
And with the help of several scholarships, she will attending her dream college, NYU, in the fall.
"It's so great, I just feel so accomplished," Johileny smiled.
