The United Nations, or UN, is used to dealing with hard-to-resolve issues, but they are grappling with one now that is notoriously difficult to manage.

According to reports, bedbugs have been spotted in their offices.

The insects were found around two cubicles on the 34th floor of their Secretariat skyscraper building in Manhattan.

The organization sent out an email informing employees of the problem, assuring them that the matter was handled promptly by professionals and "has been contained," but that management "will remain vigilant."

Despite the communication, staffers are complaining that officials had been working to eradicate the resilient insects over the weekend but in a secretive way that seemed like a cover up.

This isn't the UN's first bout with bedbugs either; the last time was in 2010 when trained dogs detected them in the basement annex library.

The group isn't alone in their struggle to deal with the pests; New York City holds the unfavorable distinction of having the worst bedbug problems of all U.S. cities.
