More than a week after two murder convicts broke out of a correction facility, New York State Police released two new progression photos of David Sweat and Richard Matt as the manhunt continues.

"As part of the continuing effort in keeping the public informed, law enforcement are releasing progression photos of what the inmates may look like after 10 days," officials said in a message posted to the New York State Police's Facebook page Wednesday morning.

The duo have been hunted by hundreds of law enforcement officers over wooded and swampy areas around the prison since their June 6 breakout. They have been on the loose for 12 days.

Matt is described as a 48-year-old white male, approximately 5'10" tall, 210 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes. The release also notes that he has tattoos that include the phrase "Mexico Forever" on his back, a heart on his chest and left shoulder, and a Marine Corps insignia on his right shoulder.

Sweat, 34, is described as a white male of roughly the same height but only weighing in at 165 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He's reported to have nonspecific tattoos on his left bicep and fingers.

The post cautions citizens that the escapees are considered dangerous and should not be approached under any circumstances.

New York authorities have scheduled a news conference for noon to provide updates on the search.
