DENVER — One day after FOX31 presented the story of a new Denver resident who was the victim of a major theft, viewers and sponsors are coming to her rescue.

Amber Schonhoft was moving to Denver from Indianapolis last week when someone stole her U-Haul moving truck from a hotel in East Denver. The moving truck was later found abandoned in a pond in Brighton but almost everything that was inside the truck remains missing.

"It hurts, you feel violated, people shouldn't feel that way," said Schonhoft in an interview on Thursday. Since the story aired, over $4,000 has been raised to help the new Denver resident recover and she's getting help from one major Denver-based company.

On Friday, FOX31 and American Lifestyle Furniture presented Amber with a $1,000 gift card to help buy new furniture. The money will help to buy a dresser, nightstand, and sofa that was stolen during the burglary.

On the website GoFundMe, people continue to post messages of support.

It's estimated Amber lost $15,000 worth of possessions in the incident. Denver Police met with Ms. Schonhoft on Friday but have been unable to release a description of the suspect involved.
