"Orange Is the New Black" star Laverne Cox met with a special young fan to share some sweet words.

According to Marlo Mack's blog GenderMom, her 7-year-old daughter M. was excited to meet Laverne Cox at an event near their home -- not because she's a fan of the Netflix series, but because M., just like Cox, is transgender.

"I had shown M. the photo of Ms. Cox on the cover of TIME when it came out last year, so M. had a vague idea that this was someone important who was also transgender," Mack wrote on her blog. "But I don't think she really got it until we showed up for the event."

The 7-year-old parked herself in front of the exit waiting for Cox. When she finally emerged, M. said hello and told her that she too was trans.

"I don't think Ms. Cox saw that coming," Mack wrote. "The crowd around me gasped their approval ('Did you hear what that little girl said?'). Laverne seemed at a bit of a loss."

Cox gave M. a hug and posed for a few pictures, and before leaving shared some some sweet words: "Remember, honey, transgender is beautiful."
