Carolina Herrera is not a fan of the naked dress, and she is making it known.

In a recent interview with the Washington Post, Herrera asked, "How can you be a fashion icon if you're not wearing clothes?"

The Venezuelan-American fashion designer has dressed first ladies from Michelle Obama to Jacqueline Onassis. Her designs are elegant and formal.

So it's no wonder Herrera was less than enthused by 'the almost naked' fashions worn at this year's Met Gala.

The naked dress was worn in variations by Jennifer Lopez (in Atelier Versace), Kim Kardashian (in custom Roberto Cavalli) and Beyoncé (in Givenchy).

Her message for them is simple - cover up! "They're trying to get people to pay attention to them. In life, there should be a little mystery," she said.

Her last comment was a stinger:

"For me, fashion is about originality, sophistication and beauty," she said. "I'm not in the fashion business; I'm in the beauty business."
