Bizarre green worm in Taiwan is freaking people out around the world
This is what nightmares are made of.
Video captured by a fisherman in Taiwan shows a giant, slimy green worm sliding its way across his boat that we hope to never see in real life. The video has been viewed almost 1 million times on Facebook and we'll admit, it's hard to look away.
The nightmarish goop is believed to be a ribbon worm, which are usually slithering around in the sea but they occasionally find themselves on land unfortunately.
According to the Smithsonian's "fun facts", that equally disturbing pink worm-like creature that comes out of its front end is called a "proboscis" and is used to paralyze its prey before feeding on it. It also points out that "As a second line of defense, many ribbon worms ... taste bad."
The video inspired a multitude of reactions across the Internet.
