Charles Barkley on punching eight fans: 'They deserved it'
By JOHN DORN
He's never been a role model. He's made that loud and clear for decades. It explains why Charles Barkley was arrested not once, not twice, but eight times for assaulting fans throughout his career.
But all these years later, now in a prominent television role, one would suspect Barkley has matured and learned from these instances, no?
Nope.
On The Herd with Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio Monday, the topic came up. And Chuck stuck to his guns.
Charles Barkley's the best. Just said on Cowherd: "I'm been arrested eight times for punching fans. And eight times they deserved it."

That's... almost exactly what he said, on at least one occasion, at the scene. Via the New York TImes from a 1997 article covering Barkley's arrest:
The police said Barkley told the man as he lay bleeding on the ground: ''You got what you deserve. You don't respect me. I hope you're hurt.''
That was after tossing a 20-year-old through a glass window of a bar. Nah, not a role model.
