Yves Saint Laurent ad banned in UK for featuring underweight model
It's been known that Israel has banned all underweight models from working in magazines and walking in fashion shows in hopes of decreasing the eating disorder epidemic. However, one fashion brand clearly isn't following suit.
UK's Advertising Standards Authority, ASA, has banned Yves Saint Laurent's recent ad featuring an underweight model. The ad was featured in Elle UK magazine and immediately elicited negative responses from readers saying that it was "irresponsible" of the fashion brand to feature such an unhealthy image.
Luckily, Twitter users chimed in to support ASA's decision to ban the ad.
I am glad that this ad has been banned. This is NOT beauty. #YVESSAINTLAURENTpic.twitter.com/rTxflCTZUW
