Why Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell aren't married

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have never married — but they've lasted longer than just about every Hollywood couple.

In an interview with Porter Magazine, the 69-year-old actress revealed why she and her longtime boyfriend have never tied the knot, saying, "A lasting relationship isn't about marriage. It's about compatibility and communication."

Hawn also pointed out that, even though they didn't take the traditional route, it still takes two to tango for that long.

"If one person does not want it to work, it isn't going to work. Intention is the key. It's also about not losing yourself in each other. Being together, two pillars holding up the house and the roof, and being different, not having to agree on everything, learning how to deal with not agreeing. Everything's a choice."

But a marriage certificate doesn't mean you won't make it as far as these two have.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson became legally bound in 1988 and have stayed together ever since.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus tied the knot with her college sweetheart in 1987.

And Meryl Streep and artist Don Gummer have been married for 36 years and still going strong.
