He may run away from authorities in the movies, but in real life Captain Jack Sparrow is apparently quite friendly with them.

A selfie taken by the Queensland Police Service features Johnny Depp in character as Captain Jack Sparrow, sporting a big smile. The image's caption reads: "Here's Johnny! A potential new Water Police recruit? Thanks for the selfie #JohnnyDepp."

Depp is in Queensland filming for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,' and the photo posted on the Queensland Police Service Facebook page quickly climbed the popularity charts on social media within hours of being posted.

Users seemed to approve, with one noting, "There was a time when having a good time as a police officer was frowned upon...So glad the service now sees their officers as human," and another saying, "Proof of the day that QPS almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow!"
