Celine Dion's astounding 20-year marriage to Rene Angelil is one of the most enduring relationships and celebrated love stories in show business, and it was Celine's unwavering devotion to her ailing husband that made the Grammy winner's decision to postpone her highly successful Las Vegas residency an easy one.
"It's not hard to take time off," the legendary singer told ET's Cameron Mathison. "It's not hard to be with him, obviously. It's not hard to be with the family and the kids. It's hard because life imposes things on you."
In December 2013, 73-year-old Rene underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his throat. Celine revealed that, two years later, her husband is "doing really well."
"We know the path that he's going, the treatments-- I knew he was amazing. He's such a champ. He's working hard on that," she said.
Together with Rene, the 47-year-old singer is ready to return to the Vegas stage with new shows at Caesars Palace beginning August 27.
"[Rene's] strong," she said. "We're creating this show together. We make changes together. He wants me back. He wants me strong and this is what we're doing together."
