George Clooney is a man in love.
The 54-year-old Tomorrowland star gushes about his wife Amal in a new interview with Charlie Rose for CBS News, revealing that his proposal was a complete surprise for the stylish 37-year-old human rights lawyer.
"When I asked her, we had never talked about it, so it was all -- there wasn't like a, 'Maybe we should get married,'" he shares. "Literally, I dropped it on her."
Turns out he also had a little help popping the question from his late aunt, legendary singer Rosemary Clooney.
"I was at my home and I queued up a playlist of some of my aunt Rosemary's songs and I asked, and she just kept saying, 'Oh my God' and 'Wow' -- completely unexpected," he recalls. "And you know, I just said, I'm 53 at the time ... 'I've been on my knee now for 28 minutes so I gotta get an answer out of this 'cause I'm gonna throw a hip out. I might not be able to stand back up.'"
As for how his marriage has changed his life, George stresses that he's never been happier.
"[I've got] a real decision maker, a much smarter decision maker," he says of Amal. "I have someone I can talk to about anything, and someone who I care more about than I've cared about anybody. So it's really nice."
Earlier this month, George also couldn't help gushing about his gorgeous wife when he sat down with ET's Nancy O'Dell. During the candid chat, he revealed all the reasons why he fell in love with Amal.
"She's an amazing human being," he told ET. "And she's caring. And she also happens to be one of the smartest people I've ever met. And she's got a great sense of humor. There's a number of reasons why."
