Floyd Mayweather got booed by Warriors fans at Game 5

Updated

The world watched Floyd Mayweather defeat Manny Pacquiao at the beginning of the month, but that big win in 'The Fight of the Century' did Mayweather no favors in winning over sports fans. Not only did he win a fight that was boring to watch, despite the the $99 Pay-Per-View price tag, but there is a laundry list of reasons why people loathe him being in the public eye.

People are quick to turn the hate for Mayweather into a race thing, but it's less about Mayweather's skin color and more about his history of beating women and being a violent member of society, even when the gloves are off. That's a stigma that follows Mayweather everywhere, including to Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.

It didn't take long for Mayweather to go from being a celebrity courtside to more hated than the Memphis Grizzlies were inside the Oracle for Game 5.

They say that boxing is a dying sport that no one watches anymore, but tens of thousands of people knew enough about Mayweather to boo him into submission at Game 5. Of course, you don't need to be Bert Sugar to know why you should hate Floyd Mayweather for his actions away from the boxing ring.

Mayweather has been accused of being violent with women, violent with people who bother him and generally unlikable in every single way possible short of murdering someone. He's tried to defend himself, but Mayweather is a tragic character in the world of sports, as he's a champion that no one wants to root for.

He's a modern day Raging Bull, and while it's unfortunate that he is booed everywhere he goes, it's not like he hasn't given the world a long list of reasons to do so.
