In the end, Conn. native Nick Fradiani proved he had what it takes to be crowned the winner.

Wrapping up the episode after his spectacular victory, Fradiani performed his new single "Beautiful Life," bringing his family, friends and the audience to tears.

Clark Beckham, who had proven a worthy competitor throughout the season, secured the runner up title -- which has notoriously been the better outcome for contestants when it comes to having a career after Idol.
