Meet the wheelchair-bound pup who was saved from euthanization and is now an Instagram sensation

Updated

Daisy was abandoned on the street as a puppy, likely due to her congenital leg deformity which makes it difficult for her to move around.

An animal control officer found her and took her to a shelter where she was held for two months before being scheduled to be euthanized. Luckily she was rescued just in time, and her current owner, Sheena Main, was able to adopt her a few months later.

Today, Daisy is five years old. While she is bound to a special wheelchair to help her get around, her underbite smile and spunky personality has attracted over 127,000 followers on Instagram.

It's no surprise why Daisy is so popular. Just look at that face!

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Main spoke about the unique challenges she faces caring for Daisy. Along with the deformity in her front legs, both of her elbows, right shoulder and back hips are dislocated, causing her to hop around when she's not in a wheelchair. Also, because of her natural posture, the pup needs to be propped up to eat comfortably.

Main doesn't mind the extra effort. She feels Daisy is the true hero in their relationship.

"I have learned so much from Daisy and our journey together. Daisy's positive attitude has helped me to stay positive and be patient," Main told HuffPost. "Her joy for life never ceases to inspire me and I can never repay Daisy for what she has given me."
