J.K. Rowling: Harry Potter Character Not Named After Sen. Elizabeth Warren

On Monday, 'Harry Potter' author J.K. Rowling made waves in the U.S. political world when she revealed the full name of her character, Moaning Myrtle. The omnipresent specter's middle name, as it turns out, is Elizabeth, which makes her full name Myrtle Elizabeth Warren.

Sound familiar?

Rowling insisted on Twitter that it was just coincidence and that she did not name the ghost after American senator Elizabeth Warren. As she pointed out, Elizabeth is a very common English middle name and she had already established Warren as the basilisk victim's last name.

No word yet from the U.S. senator, but we hope she is a fan of the unintentional shout out.
