Video Of Owl Getting Ambushed By Hawk Goes Viral

Jerry Liguori, a raptor expert and author, was recently filming a barn owl flying across a field when something unexpected happened.

In its talons, the owl was carrying a vole, which is a small rodent.

As Jerry's camera was rolling, he suddenly noticed a Northern Harrier hawk sneak up behind the owl.

The hawk seemed to want the vole as well and launched a surprise attack.

However, in the end, it was unsuccessful and the owl ended up keeping the meal.

Jerry says he was shocked and notes that "I had my eye to the camera focused on the owl and had no idea the Harrier was following behind until it entered the frame."

The video was posted online by the non-profit raptor conservation organization, HawkWatch International, and it garnered over 600,000 views within days.

Thought I would share this video by Jerry Liguori with everyone...watch it til the very end!!!! For those wondering,...

A rare albino buffalo (C) grazes next to its mother (L) in Hellsgate national park in Naivasha after it was discovered by wardens. Kenya Wildlife Service said that this is the first ever albino buffalo found in the country's park as albinism in wild animals is very rare. Scientists say that though the animal is in good health, it's an easy target as it stands out due to lack of colour pigmentation. (Photo via AFP/Getty Images)
