LACOMBE, La. -- Amazing video released by St. Tammany Fire District No. 3 shows firefighters entering a home involved in a fire and rescuing a dog.

The fire was reported about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday on Jackson Street in Lacombe, Louisiana.

The home had caught fire and was involved with heavy smoke billowing from the front of the home. The video posted to the fire district's Facebook page shows crews entering the home, battling flames erupting in areas and a firefighter rescuing a dog inside the structure.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze quickly and then began searching for victims, but found a dog in the home.

The dog suffered from complications because of smoke and heat.

Emergency crews removed the dog from the home and placed it on oxygen. The dog was taken to an emergency veterinarian by a neighbor. The animal's condition wasn't known.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
