Police in Northern California are looking for a sexual predator caught on surveillance camera attacking a 13-year-old girl when she returned home from school.

The video shows the man forcing his way through the front door as the student entered her home in San Jose on Tuesday. She told police he followed her home from school and then tried to sexually assault her. Fortunately, she was able to fight back and he ran off. Terrified, the teen then hid in the closet and texted her dad.

The middle school student told KGO-TV that she first noticed him when he approached her on the porch. The suspect explained he was lost and then started asking her inappropriate questions. That's when she decided to run in the house.

Police say the teen is not his first victim. They believe on April 2 the same suspect followed a 28-year-old woman into a public restroom and then fled before police arrived. He is described as a white man about 30 years old with a medium height, a thin build and a beard.

Police ask anyone with information to call the San Jose police Detective Brandon Scholten at (408) 277-4102. Anonymous tips can be left at the Crime Stoppers tip line at (408) 947-7867.
