'Friends' Co-Creator Explains Why A Show Reboot Will Never Happen

With new versions of so many old shows surfacing, there's been quite a bit of talk about the possibility of 'Friends' becoming one of them.

Show co-creator Marta Kauffman recently made it abundantly clear that no such thing will ever happen.

In explaining why, she said, "That show was about a time in your life when your friends are your family. Once you begin to have a family of your own, that is no longer the case, and your priorities shift. So the show is over."

She does make a compelling point.

Over the 10-year duration of the program, the characters evolved from free-spirited twentysomethings into rooted adults with careers, solid relationships, and children of their own.

While many would love to see them hanging out at the Central Perk one more time, the reunion may not prove as satisfying as fans think it would be.

Kaufman acknowledged that the potential for such disappointment is another factor working against rebooting the series.

The show's actors have also expressed reservations about getting the gang back together.
