The brand that's changing the fashion game for plus-size women

Updated

Catering to over 65% of the United States female population seems like a pretty genius business plan, don't you think? It certainly makes a lot of sense, but it's a plan that most of the fashion industry has ignored. The "average" American woman today wears a size 14, and yet most retail stores -- both high fashion and fast fashion -- lack products for her.

That's where Eloquii comes in. Described as the "plus-size Zara," by its creative director Jodi Arnold, the brand is creating trendy, stylish pieces in a wide range of price points, as well as classics like denim and workwear. They've just been named to Fast Company's list of The World's Top 10 Most Innovative Companies of 2015 in Style for bringing fast fashion to plus sized women in the way that H&M, Forever 21 and Zara do.

Eloquii, which started as part of The Limited, is now an independent brand that sells through its e-commerce site (which has seen a "236% increase in unique monthly visitors since its launch," according to Fast Company), and is also recently stocked by Nordstrom stores. In the winter, they introduced cashmere and a line of evening dresses, and lingerie will roll out this spring. It's an exciting time for the brand -- and for the women who are loving its clothes. We know we're on board!

Dare we say it? Gone are the days where the majority of American women are hard-pressed to find flattering, stylish clothing at a variety of price points.
