Watch David Hasselhoff's Bizarre '80s Performance on 'Idol'

Wednesday night was '80s night on "American Idol." And the most entertaining performance of the night wasn't from one of the contestants.

No, it was David Hasselhoff who stole the show with this awesome yet totally bizarre medley of hits from the 1980s.

"This thing, called love, well, I just can't handle it. Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you. I love rock and roll, so come and take the time and dance with me," sang David Hasselhoff on "American Idol."

Talk about a blast from the past!

The Hoff shamelessly belted out classics from Queen, Katrina and the Wage, Rick Astley and David Bowie, to name a few.

And the former "Baywatch" star's voice may not have sounded the best, but he told People Wednesday that wasn't his goal.

"I wanted to put a little humor in it and a little fun. Sometimes people just get up there and sing and they've got a great voice but who cares, you've got to entertain people."

Regardless of his mediocre pipes, the "Idol" audience was absolutely loving the performance.

And so were fans watching at home. Bustle called the medley "one of the strangest - but strangely amazing - things the show has done."

And a writer for Broadway World said the Hoff knocked the performance out of the park.

Just another reason why David Hasselhoff is awesome. Totally bizarre, but awesome.
