The opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament lived up to the hype and more, providing a buffet of hoops awesomeness to sports nerds and die-hard alumni all across the country.

The Hunter family made us scream through joy and pain at the same time, while UCLA's controversial win over SMU put the zebra suits squarely in the crosshairs.

Kentucky's Wildcats showed that a game against the Knicks would certainly be a mismatch (for the alleged "professionals," that is), yet the Wildcats of Villanova demonstrated that the selection committee is far from perfect.

On the women's side, Gonzaga's Bulldogs have kept the pace with their male counterparts by reeling off consecutive upsets to join the Sweet 16. Meanwhile, UConn's Lady Huskies are doing their best to make sure Storrs can still claim to house at least one reigning hoops champ.
