The 5 Best Cities to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

If you're searching for a perfect destination to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, there are a few cities around the world that go above and beyond.

New York City hosts the largest St. Patrick's Day parade in the world, where crowds line Fifth Avenue decked out in green and orange to hear the sounds of bagpipes (and check out the kilts in good fun).

In Chicago, everything turns green! The Chicago River is dyed for the holiday, and even though it's still pretty cold outside in March, it's a huge party in the Windy City, where you'll see everything from marching bands to Irish dance troupes.

If warmer temperatures are what you're looking for, you'll probably want to kick off the party in Savannah, Georgia. They too have a fabulous parade, complete with beautiful scenery, like fountains with dyed green water.

In Australia, the Sydney Opera House sails are illuminated in shamrock green in honor of the holiday.

Of course, this list wouldn't be complete without Ireland itself. Buildings in Dublin are lit up green, and crowds line the streets to check out epic street performances and to show off their costumes at one lively parade.
