The Hamburglar Surprises News Anchor After Viral Video

Remember April Simpson, The FOX 2 News anchor who was noticeably annoyed when her co-anchor called her 'The Hamburglar'? She's back in the spotlight ... and she still doesn't seem to be enjoying her 15 minutes of viral fame.

"'The Hamburglar' paid a surprise visit to FOX 2 News anchor April Simpson live on Monday's 9AM show," KTVI reported.

The stations explains: "A classic clip of former 9AM show host Tim Ezell calling Simpson 'The Hamburglar' during a live toss to news went viral last week. That show first aired in February 2013. In March 2015, comedian Kevin Hart posted the funny clip on his Facebook page. Since then, the clip has been posted across the web."

The 'real' Hamburglar was in town to "smooth things over" with Simpson, but she didn't seem amused, particularly when her co-anchors started to pelt her with burgers. To add insult to injury, turns out she's a vegetarian! Hopefully there were some nice hot fries backstage, because they make everything better.

Though her co-workers had a ball (and we really hope Simpson did, deep down), viewers weren't as excited about the viral joke's sequel.

BuzzFeed notes that the station is getting some backlash as a result of the gag. What do you think -- is this a funny joke or did the station cross the line? Share your thoughts in the comments, and check out what people are saying on social media below.
