Woman born without arms has Guinness Record, black belt

Jessica Cox was born without arms and doctors still don't know why but has never seen herself as a victim. And she's been proving that stance, as our partners at KERO found out, by completing one amazing task after another.

"I have an adventurous spirit; I just can't be held back," Cox told KERO.

"Jessica Cox refuses to be told what she can't do," the KERO reporter said.

"Part of me really takes it on as a challenge when someone days 'Oh, you can't do that; you don't have arms!'" Cox said.

"She's earned a third-degree black belt and earned a Guinness World Record for becoming the first person to earn a pilot's certificate without arms," the reporter said.

Cox got her pilot's license in 2008. According to Guinness World Records, she has a sport pilot certificate, which means she can fly light-sport aircraft up to 10,000 feet in the air.

The reason she set her sights on getting a pilot's certificate is actually because she was terrified of flying.

"I wanted to overcome that fear, and Eleanor Roosevelt said, 'Identify your greatest fear; walk directly at it.' ... Desire is 80 percent of success. If you don't have the desire, then you're not working with much," Cox told KERO.

Cox said the only awkwardness she's ever encountered is when meeting new people, as she can't shake hands.

"So, she's thought out something called the 'foot five.' It's kind of like a fist bump for your feet," the KERO reporter said.

And Cox is already on to new adventures. She has written a new book now available for preorder called "Disarm Your Limits."

KERO also says there's a documentary in production about Cox and her life.
