Season eight of "The Voice" is officially here. And if Monday night's premiere was any indication, we're in for one heck of a cutthroat season.

Case in point: 15-year-old Sawyer Fredericks. His rugged, soulful sound had all four coaches literally jumping out of their seats.

"On God's golden shore!" sang Sawyer Fredericks on "The Voice."

Yeah, whoa. It's no surprise that Adam, Pharrell, Christina and Blake all turned around just seconds into Sawyer's audition.

And they weren't the only ones fawning over him. The media had nothing but good things to say about the upstate New York native, calling his voice "incredible" and "timeless."

And a writer for Hollywood Life went even further, gushing, "He was SO good - wow. We think he could be the winner of this season for sure!"

So, naturally, all four coaches fought tooth and nail to get Sawyer on their respective teams.

But he chose Pharrell to be his coach, much to the dismay of Adam, who promised to propel Sawyer all the way to the finish line.

Well, Adam better get his act together - as of Monday night, he had NO contestants on his team. Hopefully, he won't let another gem like Sawyer slip through his fingers next week.
