Some people will go pretty far in an effort to obtain a good number of likes on social media. One man in India initially got his wish when one of his photos started making the rounds online -- but in the end, it didn't work out too well for him.

In the image taken in May of last year, 24-year-old Muhammad Abdul, who reportedly goes by the alias of Fazal Sheikh, is seen standing on the shell of a giant Galapagos tortoise in a zoo enclosure.

According to NDTV, he was arrested and booked last week in accordance with the laws of the Wildlife Protection Act and for trespassing.

The Deccan Chronicle notes his arrest came after zoo officials saw the image of Abdul posing on top of the tortoise and filed a complaint.

Police checked a picture that had appeared in a local newspaper along with Facebook images from the man's page and soon took him into custody.

The curator of the Zoo commented, "I am glad the police are making an example of him and I hope it will deter others. He did get a lot of attention, but I hope it is not the sort he wanted ... This sort of cruelty and stupidity cannot be tolerated."
