Neil Patrick Harris strips down to his skivvies at the 2015 Oscar Awards

Some Oscars hosts rock a number of different outfits during their time on stage -- but Neil Patrick Harris decided to make eyes pop by taking it all off instead.
In a nod to the unforgettable underwear scene in "Birdman" (and perhaps inspired by "Magic Mike," though that movie didn't get a nod from the Academy), NPH came out from a "quick change" in nothing but his underpants.
Talk about going method for a role!
The Oscar audience quickly went from stunned to amused, and the room went wild. The only person who seemed extremely uncomfortable was poor Margot Robbie who shared the stage with the nearly-nude host.
The "How I Met Your Mother" actor is no stranger to public (almost) nudity. During his time on Broadway in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," he basically just wore glitter, so underwear could just be his version of a three-piece suit.
When NPH finally got dressed again, he said he was officially a "changed man" ... and we're officially obsessed with the amount of fun he's infusing into an 87-year-old show.
