Louisville dismisses senior guard Chris Jones from team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville has dismissed senior point guard Chris Jones, bringing an end to a tumultuous week in which he was suspended a game before being reinstated and helping rally the No. 12 Cardinals past Miami on Saturday.
No reason was given for Jones' dismissal in a brief release from the school Sunday that added there would be no comment. He was suspended Tuesday for violating unspecified team rules and missed the next day's loss at Syracuse; Jones returned Thursday after coach Rick Pitino said "Chris has done what he needed to do" for reinstatement.
The 5-foot-10 Memphis native was the Cardinals' assists leader and third-leading scorer. He scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half in Louisville's 55-53 victory over Miami.
