Michael Carter-Williams shocked to hear about trade
During the NBA trade deadline, some players felt a little more safe than others. Some players don't believe that they are mentioned in trade rumors and get comfortable with their teams. After winning the rookie of the year award last season, you would believe that you will be sitting on your roster for a few seasons. Michael Carter-Williams thought that he would be with the Philadelphia 76ers for a long time, but after today's trade deadline he will now be moving out to Milwaukee to play for the Bucks and he was shocked to hear the news.
Carter-Williams was traded to the Bucks in a blockbuster 3-team trade. He will be headed to Milwaukee while Brandon Knight will be headed out to Phoenix and some draft picks ended up in Philly. There was a lot of movement between the three teams and Carter-Williams will now lead a new roster.
He now finds himself in a new surrounding and will be competing for the playoffs. That will be a new situation for the youngster. He has not had that opportunity in his first couple of seasons in the league. The 76ers had a 12-41 record with no hope for a playoff spot and were looking at lottery picks. The Bucks are 30-23 and are looking to secure a playoff spot at the end of the year.
Carter-Williams will be thrown into the starting lineup and will be expected to bring more size and athleticism to the Bucks backcourt. A season after winning the rookie of the year award with the 76ers, he now has to adapt to a new team and coaching staff.
