In 2004, the fashion design chairman at Parsons was tapped to host a new reality show on Bravo. Within months, Tim Gunn and "Project Runway" were household names.

Over a decade later, the man known for his gentle advice continues to mentor aspiring designers on the show, which has since changed networks to Lifetime. He's also been hard at work on a new book, "Tim Gunn: The Natty Professor: A Master Class on Mentoring, Motivating, and Making It Work!" which hits stores March 24.

The fashion guru, best-selling author and actor joins Marie Claire Editor-in-Chief Anne Fulenwider to talk about what it takes to "make it work" in fashion and life.
