Georgia Mansion -- 5 Kitchens! -- Asking Price Half of Cost
The Rose Hill Estate, about 45 minutes from Atlanta in Suwanee, hit the market just shy of $14 million, but reports say the never-lived-in estate cost $40 million to build. Local property records say the mystery owners, hidden behind the Moore LLC, paid $9 million to buy the property in 2009.
And what a property it is, obviously built by folks who believe more is more. The 35,000 square-foot Rose Hill mansion sports eight bedrooms and 17 bathrooms, five kitchens -- why would anyone need five kitchens? -- 20 HVAC units, three laundry rooms and a saltwater pool.
The main floor features a cantilevered staircase made from heart pine and an antique chandelier from a Cuban castle. And there are tons of niche rooms -- a china room with velvet-lined silver drawers, a pantry with remote control shelving, a flower room with an arranging island and floral refrigeration, and a wrapping room.
The property also features:
- 14-car garage with underground tunnel attaching the garage to the main house.
- Pool house.
- 16 gated acres.
- Prize-winning rose gardens.
Suwanee, by the way, was ranked No. 33 on Money magazine's 2013 Best Places to Live list.
