Regis Philbin on David Letterman: 'He's Been Great to Me'

It's safe to say Regis Philbin and David Letterman know each other pretty well at this point -- after all, Regis has appeared on Dave's "Late Show" a grand total of 57 times.

Ahead of his "Late Late Show" interview with Dave scheduled for Tuesday, Regis revealed just how much their friendship means to him.

"Actually, I've been going on that show for almost 20 years now, at least 22 years. And he's been great to me. And every time that I have needed him, he has been there," Regis Philbin said on "The Late Late Show."

Regis recalled when he underwent heart bypass surgery in 2007, a procedure Dave had gone through seven years before. Regis told "Late Late Show" guest Martin Short that Dave took care of his hospital arrangements and was there for him throughout the entire process, telling him everything was going to be fine.

Move over Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez - Regis Philbin and David Letterman are officially our new favorite celebrity BFFs.

The awesome besties are going to be reunited on a CBS late night show once again. Dave is scheduled to make a rare appearance on "The Late Late Show" Tuesday as Regis guest hosts the show for the second night in a row. We can't wait to see how their visit goes down.
