23-year-old Russian tennis player dies suddenly
A rising Russian tennis star, dubbed the next Anna Kournikova, is dead at just 23 years old.
The tennis world is in shock after a Facebook post announced that Violetta Degtiareva died. Details are still unclear, but the news first broke when a close friend of the young tennis player posted on her page, "I can hardly believe it. Rest in peace."
According to Yahoo! News, Russian media outlets are now reporting she died from heart failure during a training session, though conflicting reports say she died on the way to the hospital after collapsing at practice.
Degtiareva's most notable career moment was reaching the quarter-finals at the ITF-Turnier in Turkey last year, though she was perhaps even better known for her beauty, often being compared to tennis superstar Anna Kournikova.
Degtiareva was ranked 1084th in the world.
