Sylvester Stallone announces 'Rambo 5'
For those who can't get enough of headband-clad Vietnam veterans blasting guys apart, Sylvester Stallone has one more round for you. He announced via Twitter that he's working on yet another Rambo film, this one tentatively titled Last Blood. There's no word yet on whether Last Blood will be bloodier than First Blood, but we're going to say that 'yes' is a safe bet.
Doing Scarpa based on Gangster Greg Scarpa after LAST BLOOD RAMBO...- Sylvester Stallone (@TheSlyStallone) December 28, 2014
Clearly you can tell which movie Stallone is more excited about, as evidenced by his liberal use of CAPS. If the most recent Rambo film is any indication, this won't be the last time full caps are in use.
Obviously no plot details have been leaked, but we're guessing this once again puts John Rambo in the role of reluctant hero, much like he was in the previous installment, when Rambo was forced to save some blithering idiots who thought it was a good idea to stroll into war-ravaged Burma. Fortunately John Rambo showed up and blew everyone to bits.
Of course, if there's one thing we've learned from John Rambo, it's that the only true idiots are the ones who dare mess with him. That's a lesson that's come with increasing dividends. The fourth and most recent installment featured the most Rambo-induced deaths by far.
You can expect that figure to only go up as the stakes must get higher for John Rambo. This is, after all, Last Blood, is it not? Do we invoke Last Blood with Rambo if there isn't...more blood? We think not.
The fourth Rambo, released in 2008 and simply titled Rambo, grossed $113 million at the box office, which gives the studios plenty of reason to green light another film in the series. The four films in the Stallone action series have grossed over $700 million since the release of Rambo: First Blood in 1982.
As for the other part of Stallone's tweet, Greg Scarpa AKA 'The Mad Hatter', was a member of the Colombo crime family who eventually turned witness for the FBI. There's precious little information available on this project, but one can assume that Stallone will suit up as the Mad Hatter and get his gangster on once he's put another army to rest as John Rambo.
