Hedge fund founder, 70, slain in NYC apartment

Son Questioned In Hedge Fund Founder's Death

Investigators are questioning the son of a New York hedge fund founder who was shot and killed over the weekend.

Thomas Gilbert Sr., 70, headed Wayne Scott Capital Partners, a $200 million hedge fund. Police say his wife found him in their bedroom with a single gunshot wound to the head on Sunday and his son, 30-year-old Thomas Gilbert Jr., was taken into custody overnight.

A neighbor told ABC News he heard the incident take place.

"Something just kaboom, like, just hit the floor loudly...Like if something dropped on the floor."

Investigators believe he shot his father after an argument and then fled. So far no charges have been filed.
