A rare silver dollar is worth big bucks on 'Pawn Stars'
On "Pawn Stars" Rick Harrison had to spend a pretty penny ... to get a pretty silver dollar. A 1922 High-Relief Proof Coin to be exact.
A coin expert told Rick and the seller that it's, "one of the rarest coins in American history ... and the coin is perfectly legitimate. It's one of very few known"
He continued and said "I think this coin is worth something north than 50 and less than 100."
And no, the expert wasn't quoting between $50 and $100. He valued the coin between $50,000 and $100,000.
Fans on Twitter put that sum in perspective - one Tweeted: "this guy has a single coin that could pay off my student loans and them some."
Rick said there are only 10-12 of these coins in existence.
Though, in June, one lucky person was able to purchase two for a combined total of $561,063. So, you know, if you've got any extra coin lying around...like, a lot of extra coin...for some coins.
It also may surprise you to hear the man who sold the coin won it in a poker game and originally only wanted $20,000 for it, not knowing it was worth so much. In the end, he settled with Rick on selling it for $80,000.
So he basically made $60,000 more than he was intending.
