A family in California is searching for answers after their 11-year-old daughter died from a mysterious allergic reaction.

Paige Warner was with her family in Hawaii over Thanksgiving. Her mother says she had food allergies and was sensitive to 'environmental conditions.' She went swimming in a pool in Honolulu with her sister and a friend.

Her mother said, "Usually I could get it under control and this time I just knew something was wrong. ... Probably about 10 to 15 minutes of that she got out of the pool and was complaining that her nose was burning ... She looked at me and said, 'I'm dying. I know I'm gonna die because I can see the look on your face.'"

According to the family's GoFundMe site, Paige was rushed to the hospital but her lungs closed up and her heart stopped. After about an hour of CPR, her heart started again and she was placed in a coma but later died.

Doctors still aren't sure what caused Paige's reaction. They say anything from volcanic ash to the temperature of the pool could have contributed.
