A Christmas mystery: A woman walked into a Toys 'R' Us in Bellingham, Massachusetts, and paid off every single layaway account.

"I have no words. I can't believe someone would do that," customer Diane Brewer told WFXT.

"I wish there were more people in the world like that," customer Jason Wood said.

The woman is reportedly a local, and the Milford Daily News reports employees called her a "bubbly older woman" who said, "If you have it, give it."

The so-called "layaway angel" paid off a total of around $20,000, helping more than 150 people -- and the wintry air is also giving others the "give back" bug.

Earlier this month a "secret Santa" paid off $15,000 of layaways at an Ohio Wal-Mart. Dayton Daily News reports the store manager said the man felt he was at a stage in his life to play Santa for some families.

Another man paid off some Wal-Mart layaways this month in Kansas, although the exact amount is unknown.

"[It's] been kind of a rough year, and to know that someone would step in and not even know us and do it ... " said a woman whose layaway was paid off.

'Tis the season of layaway payoff, it seems.
