Reports a gunman had taken multiple hostages inside an Arkansas elementary school have been proven false.

Wonder Elementary, in West Memphis, was put on lockdown Friday morning amid rumors a suspect was inside with a gun, WHBQ reported. Police scoured the school and found no suspects.

The lockdown lasted less than an hour as police searched for the suspected gunman.

It was later discovered those early claims were linked to a phone threat stemming from a 'domestic situation," according to police.

Children were released to the custody of any concerned parents wishing to take them home, but the day continued on as normal for remaining students.
