Transgender Beauty Pageant 2014

The Miss International Queen pageant is not your usual beauty contest. All 21 contestants were born biologically male.

Miss Vuenezuela won the 2014 Miss International Queen and was awarded a crown, sash, $12,200 US, and a free cosmetic surgery procedure. This year's theme was the butterfly effect.

The event is running in it's 10th year with the aim of the contest being awareness about transgender rights. For many of the contestants, the pageant represented a celebration of their rights, identity, and expression.
