Diem Brown lost her long, extremely brave battle with cancer, PEOPLE reports. She was 32.
Diem first found fame on the MTV reality series "Real World/Road Rules Challenge" in 2006, and went on to compete in six more challenges.
In a statement, the network said: "MTV is tremendously sad to hear the news that Diem Brown has lost her long battle with cancer. We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends. Diem was a true fighter and brought passion to everything she touched. We will miss her."
During her time on the popular shows, Brown was open about her cancer battle, never sugarcoating the difficult moments and always reveling in positive updates. She took off her wig in one emotional scene during "The Duel" and chronicled the loss of her hair in video diaries and photo shoots.
On November 11th, Diem wrote about her strong will to fight on Instagram: " Need tons of prayers, advice, support and outreach. I'm not taking no for an answer. Alicia Quarles will take medical advice. Contact her. We know there is hope and help. We need you."
Brown's close friend, E! correspondent Alicia Quarles shared the following update when Diem's health took a turn for the worst on the 12th: "Diem went into the hospital on Sunday. Her family is amazing, her father is here, her sisters, her brothers, all of her friends, we've been surrounding her non-stop. Last night wasn't a good night, but ... the doctors said 'anybody else would not have survived last night, but Diem continues to amaze them.' She is stable now, today is a good day and that's all we can ask for."
US Weekly reports that Diem was scheduled to undergo the second of five chemotherapy treatments on November 18th.
Throughout her nearly ten-year battle, Diem was candid about her health struggles. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer ten years ago at age 23, and in 2012, she revealed that the cancer had returned. In October, she received even more difficult news: The cancer found in her stomach and colon in August spread to her liver and lymph nodes.
Diem founded MedGift to help people struggling to pay for and cope with medical hardships. Diem's friends and family set up this page for her.
