Top 25 college football rankings

Florida State and Mississippi State remain 1-2 in this week's XN Sports Top 25 college football rankings.

Auburn fumbled away its chances to stay at No. 3, and its college football playoff hopes as well, in a home loss to Texas A&M.

TCU, Arizona State, Baylor, and Ohio State all had statement wins on Saturday and moved up in the polls while Kansas State, Notre Dame, and Michigan State are sliding, both down the poll and out of playoff contention.

Welcome to the poll Georgia Tech, Colorado State, and Missouri and goodbye Oklahoma, Utah, and West Virginia.

The latest college football playoff poll has TCU in the coveted fourth spot, but XN has the Horned Frogs behind Alabama and Baylor as the Bears hold a head-to-head win and the Crimson Tide also have just one loss and get the nod over both Big 12 teams, although slightly.

Dropped out: West Virginia, Oklahoma, Utah

Close but not quite: USC, Texas A&M, Minnesota
