Surprise! Janet Jackson makes first red carpet appearance in a year

On the same day that Beyonceflawlessly channeled her on Halloween, Janet Jackson made a surprising red carpet appearance on Friday -- her first in over a year -- at the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience in the United Arab Emirates.
Sporting a fitted, long-sleeve black dress, the 48-year-old singer wore her hair in a super-high ponytail, showing off her killer cheekbones.

Her makeup artist, Preston Meneses, also posted this cute selfie of the two, highlighting Janet's arched eyebrows.

According to Celebuzz, Janet also attended the event with her husband, billionaire Wissam Al Mana, a Qatari fashion tycoon, whom she wed in 2012.
Janet's last public appearance was at amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS Gala, all the way back in May 2013.
